20+ screenshots and 1 Hour+ Per test case. That was a QA challenge for one of Australia's largest core banking migrations, done manually.
As part of its UNITE core banking migration, Westpac needed to verify migration records accurately between systems. In practice, that meant testers manually reviewing 20+ screenshots and validating 50+ fields per test case.
Working with ClearRoute and Claude, Westpac built an AI-enabled validation framework powered to streamline this process. OCR extracts structured text from screenshots, AI applies validation rules and compares source vs. target values, and the system generates field-level results automatically. A Claude Opus 5.5 judge agent then provides feedback on low-confidence cases to the validation agent, which re-runs flagged fields. Human oversight remains critical, complementing AI-enabled validation with appropriate review of exceptions and accountability for validation outcomes.
The result: validation time per test case dropped from 45-60 minutes to around 5 minutes - a ~92% reduction - with greater consistency.
It's a pattern that extends well beyond this one migration: any process built on manual, screenshot-by-screenshot comparison is a strong candidate for the same approach.
